One UI 7 might be Samsung’s boldest upgrade in a long time, and for users who’ve had the chance to try it, there’s a lot to love — from refreshed visuals to Android 15-based enhancements. But for millions of Galaxy owners worldwide, this update has generated more headaches than hype. And, unfortunately, the frustration is far from over.

Samsung’s One UI 7 Rollout Faces Global Delays, Frustrated Users Await Updates
Overall, One UI 7 as a piece of software is generally well-received — fluid, clean, and feature-rich. But the manner in which Samsung has handled its release? That’s a different story. What should have been a triumphant global rollout has devolved into a patchy, haphazard mess that has left millions feeling left out on the sidelines.
In fact, Samsung was able to finalize the stable version of the Galaxy S24 after nearly five months of usage, but the fact is that the beta for the Galaxy S24 was launched in early December 2024. That’s a significant time gap from last year’s One UI 6 rollout, which came out of beta to stable in a little over two and half months.
The rollout has been uneven across the regions even after they had launched a stable build for the S24, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6. Countries like Colombia and Mexico were first in line, while users in massive markets like India are still waiting. To make matters worse, a poorly-controlled rollout of Exynos chipsets led to a temporary hold on updates for some devices, adding delay and receiving user backlash.
So why the chaos? There has been speculation about overloaded servers, hang-ups from Galaxy AI optimization, or just the scale of One UI 7 stretching the development team too thin — particularly with even more device launches planned in 2025. Whatever the reasons, one thing is clear: Samsung dropped the ball. So the question now is whether the company has learned from this. Rumor has it that Samsung will actually pass on One UI 7.1 and go directly to One UI 8.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are rumored to come equipped with Android 16 and One UI 8 right out of the box. If so, we could expect an early rollout of the One UI 8 beta for devices such as Galaxy S25. Samsung might have dropped the ball with the One UI 7 release, which is my hope that the company took the feedback to heart — and won’t make the mistakes again. In the meantime, let’s keep our fingers crossed that the rest of the One UI 7 rollout doesn’t drag on any longer than it already has.
