Samsung launches the Galaxy Z Fold4 with improved cameras and a better design

Samsung claims that the first two generations of the Galaxy Series of smartphones have defined the foldable phone segment and the third generation gave an emphasis on better ergonomics, better productivity features, and other camera improvements. Let us take a look at what the Galaxy Z Fold4 packs.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 detailed specifications:

The latest foldable flagship smartphone from the brand is relatively smaller in comparison to its predecessor but it is not wider, when closed, it tends to measure 67.1mm but due to its thinner bezels, the brand has been able to make the cover display bit wider by 2.7mm. The smartphone has an aspect ratio of 23:9.

The latest model is 2mm wide but due to the slim bezels, the display was able to be 3.1mm wider. The foldable device is thinner and measures 6.3mm when unfolded and 15.8mm when closed. The smartphone is 8g lighter to boot and weighs 263g.

The display measures 7.6″ with an aspect ratio of 6.2:5. It has a refresh rate of 120Hz and a peak brightness of up to 1,000 nits. The frame is made out of armor-grade aluminum and the cover display along with the back panel now carries a layer of the Gorilla Glass Victus+. The smartphone has IPX8 water and dust resistance rating. It also arrives with a guaranteed certified foldable lifespan of 200,000 times.

In the optics department, we see a 50MP primary shooter with a larger sensor capable of capturing 23% more light along with support for EIS and OIS. The latest 10MP telephoto lens arrives with up to 3x optical zoom support. The Digital ‘Space Zoom’ is capable of reaching up to 30x and the 12MP ultrawide lens is the same as the one on its predecessor.

The camera on the cover display is a 10MP one with an f/2.2 aperture and the under-display camera has a 4MP shooter. The foldable is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen1 that has been paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB/512GB storage variants. There is also a 1TB option, however, it is restricted to only some markets.

In terms of battery life, it has a 4,400mAh battery with support for 25W charging which makes it faster than the third-generation model. A 30-minute charge now ensures your phone can go from 0 to 50% and there is also a provision to wirelessly charge the device at 15W.

The device has a Flex Mode which led to half folding the device in a position similar to that of a laptop. This leads to the camera propping up for video calling without a tripod. The S Pen now gets a compartment to store it in as well.

The Galaxy Z Fold4 starts at $1,800 or Rs.1,42,294 for the 12GB+256GB version while the 12GB+512GB version retails for Rs.1,56,733, and the 12GB+1TB version retails for Rs.1,76,312. For those who order the phone early, they get a complimentary memory upgrade and in addition to this, one can drop the price by up to $1,000 if they decide to trade their phone in. Samsung is shipping a Standing Cover with the Pen Case. The device is available in Phantom Black, New Beige, and Gray-green. Here is the link to pre-order the device.
