Many rumors and leaks have suggested that Samsung is planning to launch book-style versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 this year. The exact timing of these releases is still uncertain. There is speculation that Samsung might unveil these devices at an Unpacked event, in Paris.
Apart from talks about a budget Galaxy Z Fold model, there are also rumors about a higher-end variant called the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra expected to come with upgraded features compared to the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, a recent report hints that this premium foldable phone may not be available in all markets.
More About Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra
According to a report from Galaxyclub.nl, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra is currently under development with the model code Q6A. The report also mentions that Samsung is working on another device with model number SM-F958 believed to be an ‘Ultra’ version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. This naming convention follows the Samsung model numbering system where the final digit indicates the model category.
The report explains that ‘6’ usually represents a ‘Fold model’ while ‘8’ has been used for ‘Ultra’ models in times. The latest Z Fold 5 is named SM F946 and the upcoming folding phone is expected to be SM F956. On the other hand, the S24 Ultra is identified by the model number SM S928.
This model number hints at a fusion between the Galaxy Z and S series signifying a move of the ‘Ultra’ brand to Samsung foldable phones. Currently, Samsung also uses the ‘Ultra’ branding for its Galaxy Tab S tablet series and Galaxy Book laptop series.
However, the report notes a potential limitation: only the SM-F958N model is currently in development by Samsung, with the ‘N’ indicating a variant tailored for the South Korean market. Information presently available does not specify a model or variant for other markets, leading to speculation that Samsung may initially release only the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6 model.
In addition to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Samsung is anticipated to unveil its Galaxy Z Flip 6 model at the forthcoming Unpacked event, reportedly set to take place in Paris, France, this year.
