Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 with Advanced AI Features and Long-term Updates

Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 on Wednesday, expanding its lineup of book- and clamshell-style foldable phones. Samsung noted at the last Galaxy Unpacked event that both foldables offer their own Galaxy AI capabilities, as well as Google’s Circle to Search feature, and Gemini delivers a more flatly described chatbot. Powered by a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, they will offer seven years of Android OS and security updates.

The Latest Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 starts at $1,899 (approximately ₹1,58,600) for the base model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, with 512GB and 1TB variants priced at $2,019 (approximately ₹1,68,600) and $2,259 (approximately ₹1,88,700), respectively. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is available in a 12GB + 256GB configuration for $1,099 (approximately ₹91,800) and a 512GB variant priced at $1,219 (approximately ₹1,01,800).

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will come in Navy, Pink, and Silver Shadow; the Galaxy Z Flip 6 ships in Blue Mint, Yellow, and Silver Shadow Samsung elements and online orders through the Samsung store: for Z Fold 6 Crafted Black and White, for Z Flip 6 though you will get it in three colors – Crafted Black, White, and Peach. Both models are now available to pre-order ahead of their July 24 retail availability.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is a dual-SIM device (Nano or Nano+eSIM) running Android 14 with Samsung’s One UI 6.1.1. It features a 6.3-inch HD+ (968×2,376 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X outer display with a 410ppi pixel density, and a 7.6-inch QXGA+ (1,856×2,160 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex inner display with a 374ppi pixel density. Both screens have an adaptive refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz.

As for the cameras, The Z Fold 6 packs a triple rear camera set-up: A 50MP Wide (Dual Pixel Autofocus, OIS, and f/1.8 aperture) + 12MP Ultrawide Camera (f/2.2 Ultra-Wide Lens with 123-degree field-of-view) + 10 MP Telephoto Camera. It also includes a 10-megapixel cover display selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 4-megapixel under-display camera with an f/2.8 aperture.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 offers up to 1TB of storage and comes with support for 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3. The sensor unit provides an accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, e-compass, and range of MEMS. The device houses a 4,400mAh battery with up to 25W wired charging and Fast Wireless Charging 2.0. The phone also has Wireless PowerShare Z Fold 6 water damage protection a feature that has an IP48 rating, a corner-mounted fingerprint sensor and measures 153.5×68.1×12.1mm folded, 153.5×132.6×5.6mm unfolded, and weighs 239g.

Similarly, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 runs the same Android and One UI versions, offers dual-SIM connectivity, and is powered by the same Snapdragon chipset with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. Its cover screen is a 3.4-inch (720×748 pixels) Super AMOLED with a 60Hz refresh rate and 306ppi pixel density. Inside, it has a 6.7-inch Full-HD+ (1,080×2,640 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display with a refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz.

The Z Flip 6, meanwhile, has a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera with dual pixel autofocus (PDAF), OIS, and an f/1.8 aperture as well as facial recognition for its shutter; a 12MP ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture and 123-degree field-of-view. There is a 10-megapixel shooter with an f/2.2 aperture that caters to your selfie needs at all times, given it’s buried under the inner screen.

The Z Flip 6 has the same connectivity and sensor capabilities as its folding sibling, with a 4,000mAh battery with the same charging capabilities as the Z Fold 6. Along with the IP48 rating, there is also a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on board and it measures 85.1×71.9×14.9mm folded, 165.1×71.9×6.9mm unfolded, and weighs 187g.
