Samsung entered the object tracker market in 2021 with its Galaxy SmartTag, initially released alongside the Galaxy S21 series. In April of the same year, the South Korean smartphone maker launched the Galaxy SmartTag+, featuring Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology. Now, it seems that the first-generation Galaxy SmartTag will soon be succeeded by a new model.

Everything about the Galaxy SmartTag 2 Known so far

This speculation arises from the recent appearance of the Galaxy SmartTag 2 on the Bluetooth SIG certification website. While the specific release date for this forthcoming object tracker is currently undisclosed, there are expectations that it will make its debut at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event, which is planned to occur before the end of July.

The Bluetooth SIG certification listing reveals the model number EI-T5600 for the Galaxy SmartTag2, confirming its name as the Galaxy SmartTag 2. Moreover, the certification indicates that this forthcoming SmartTag2 will support Bluetooth v5.3. Currently, the specific details and specifications of this upcoming object tracker remain undisclosed. Additionally, the launch date of the Galaxy SmartTag 2 remains a mystery. However, given that Samsung plans to introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Buds 3, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series at the upcoming event, it is possible that the SmartTag2 will also be launched during the same occasion.

As previously mentioned, Samsung initially unveiled the Galaxy SmartTag in 2021. The Galaxy SmartTag is integrated into Samsung’s SmartThings ecosystem and is available in two variants. One variant supports Bluetooth LE 5.0, making it compatible with any Galaxy device, while the other variant utilizes Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology and works specifically with the S21+ and S21 Ultra models. The Galaxy SmartTag can be attached to any desired object for tracking purposes. It operates on a replaceable CR2032 button battery and is priced at $29.99 (approximately ₹2,460).

The SmartTag+ was introduced a few months after the initial Galaxy SmartTag release. It combines both BLE and UWB technology into a single device. The SmartTag+ is equipped with a solitary button that users can press or hold to carry out personalized functions using the SmartThings app. It is priced at $39.99 (approximately ₹3,280).
