The Galaxy S25 Edge sold just 1.31 million units in three months—74% fewer than the S25 Plus’s 5.05 million, according to Hana Securities data. This prompted Samsung to reintroduce the Plus model, extending hardware verification but ultimately preserving the February launch.

Contrary to earlier rumors, Samsung won’t use the Exynos 2600 across all models. Only the base and Plus variants will feature Samsung’s in-house chip, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra gets Qualcomm’s premium processor. This strategic split mirrors last year’s approach but with expanded Exynos adoption—a move experts attribute to improved 2-nanometer GAA process yields.

What This Means for Consumers

Industry analysts predict the S26 Ultra will see price increases due to rising component costs, tariffs, and Qualcomm’s premium chips. However, Samsung’s expanded Exynos use strengthens its negotiating position with suppliers. Professor Kim Yong-seok from Gachon University suggests full Exynos adoption in Ultra models might arrive with the 2027 Galaxy S27.
