Samsung Galaxy S26 Leaks: Silicon-Carbon Batteries and New Display Tech Expected for 2026 Flagship

The Galaxy S26 series is expected to adopt silicon-carbon batteries, as reported by Jukanlosreve, quoting the Weibo account Ice Universe. They are meant to pack more energy into the same space compared with standard lithium-ion cells, and they also don’t have as high a chance of catching fire, making them safer. In recent years, this technology has occurred increasingly with smartphones, especially from premium brands, as it allows the batteries to be much larger without adding bulk to the smartphone.

To some extent, this would mean battery capacities could soar from the current 5,000/5,500mAh to as much as 6,000mAh and higher without sacrificing the thickness of your phone. There were initial reports of Samsung using “stacked battery technology” that could increase energy density by about 10%. However, it appears that the winds have shifted, and silicon-carbon battery become the preferred option. If true, this would be a major win for the Galaxy S26 lineup, as it would increase battery life without changing the physical design of the phone.

Apart from the battery upgrade, another leak states that the South Korean tech giant would introduce the CoE (Colour-filter-on-thin-film-encapsulation) technology for the 2026 Ultra flagship. This tech is something Samsung has already adapted to its foldable phones (from the Galaxy Z Fold 3 to Z Fold 6), which swaps out the polarizer plates usually used in OLED displays for a color filter. In addition to this update, a black Pixel Define Layer (PDL) will also help to make the glass covering the screen thinner and allow more light to pass through. This could enable the display to be thinner, brighter, and more efficient.
