The South Korean news report claims that the Exynos 2500 chipset could be used in Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 series, disputing some previous speculation about how much of a role Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon processor would play. With the Galaxy S25 expected to be unveiled in a few months, Samsung is now said to be readying a comparably new Exynos chipset for its next-gen Galaxy S25 series.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Series May Feature Exynos 2500

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series will be powered by a chipset developed under the project name “Solomon,” as per the ZDNet Korea report. This new strategy is particularly focused on improving the output of the Exynos 2500 processor, which as per recent reports has been poor in the momentum period.

According to industry sources quoted by the publication, Exynos 2500’s yields were less than 20 percent in the second quarter of 2024, and in the first quarter, the rate was single-digit. The South Korean electronics giant needs to reach a yield of more than 60 percent by September or October this year in order to commence mass production of the Exynos 2500 chip, explains the report.

As part of the ‘Sapphire’ project, Samsung also introduced an Exynos W1000- a newer chip with higher performance. The chip follows in the footsteps of what is expected to be known as the dual-core Exynos W930 that powers Galaxy Watch 6 series models.

Earlier this month, Ming-Chi Kuo, a market analyst at TF International Securities, predicted that Samsung would use a snapdragon chipset in all Galaxy S25 versions because the Exynos 2500 yield is low.

This year, the standard Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ models were equipped with the Exynos 2400 chipset (except in Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Taiwan, and the US), while the Galaxy S24 Ultra featured the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in all markets. It remains to be seen if Samsung will equip all Galaxy S25 models with Snapdragon chips, similar to last year’s Galaxy S23 series.
