Just like the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung is committing to seven years of OS upgrades and security updates for its upcoming Galaxy S25 lineup—already among the longest in the Android world, matching Google Pixel and competing with Apple’s iPhone. But Samsung is taking it a step further by launching a special version of the Galaxy S25 that will provide eight years of software support, all the way to Android 23.

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Enterprise Edition Sets New Record with 8 Years of Software Support
Now, this variant — the Galaxy S25 Enterprise Edition — is designed for business users, and comes with Samsung’s Knox Suite already pre-loaded onboard, giving you enterprise-grade security alongside features like Knox Manage, Knox Capture, and Knox Remote Support. You also get a year of Knox Suite included in the price. These devices also come preloaded with Microsoft Office and Google Cloud apps.
Buyers of the Enterprise Edition also qualify for a longer three-year warranty and extended update support. According to Samsung’s Knox website (via SamMobile), this model will continue to receive OS upgrades through Android 23 and security patches until January 2032—one year more than the standard S25 versions, which stop at Android 22. This makes the S25 Enterprise Edition the Android phone with the longest promised software support ever.
The S24 Enterprise Edition had the same update timeline as the standard version, therefore, this change with the S25 is a signifier that Samsung’s strategy has changed. Specs-wise, the Enterprise Edition is identical to the regular Galaxy S25 models, with a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, 12GB of RAM, stunning 120Hz AMOLED displays, and full-day battery life. It’s available in three models: standard, Plus, and Ultra. While the regular S25 series will be sold globally, the Enterprise Edition will launch only in select regions.
Given the hardware is the same across both versions, it’s possible that Samsung could eventually extend Android 23 to the standard S25 models too—though that remains to be seen. The bigger question, however, is whether the hardware can truly remain reliable for eight years.
