Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ launched with a revamped design

Samsung announced the Galaxy S22 Series earlier today, the new Series has the Galaxy S22, S22+, and the S22 Ultra. The new Galaxy S22 Series will release with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip in India.

Let us take a look at the specs of the devices in the lineup:

Samsung Galaxy S22:

The Samsung Galaxy S22 features a 6.1″ Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED display with a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus. The border of the device has a layer of Armored aluminum, the Galaxy S22 runs on Android 12 OS with One UI 4.1 on top.

The display has Samsung’s eye comfort shield for blue light control and a high refresh rate of 120Hz, it has the capacity to drop down to 10Hz as well. The highlight has to be the octa-core chip based on 4nm architecture, some regions get the Exynos 2200 while the rest get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. The Galaxy S22 arrives with 8GB RAM.

In the optics department, the Galaxy S22 features a triple camera setup with a 50MP primary dual pixel wide-angle sensor with an f/1.8 aperture lens, a 12MP ultrawide-angle lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS. The device has a 10MP selfie shooter which may seem underwhelming but it comes with an f/2.2 aperture and 80-degree field-of-view.

The Galaxy S22 offers 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, in terms of connectivity, you get 5G, 4G LTE, WiFi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port. Samsung has integrated an accelerometer, ambient light sensors, barometer, geomagnetic, gyroscope, and a proximity sensor.

For biometrics, you get an in-display fingerprint sensor. The device has a 3,700mAh battery which is underwhelming but the 25W fast charging along with 15W wireless charging makes up for it.

The Galaxy S22 will come in 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB storage options. It has been priced at $799 or 59,900 INR.

Samsung Galaxy S22+

The Samsung Galaxy S22+ features a 6.6″ Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x display with support for Samsung Eye Comfort Shield, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and a peak brightness of 120Hz. The Galaxy S22+ runs on Android 12 with One UI 4.1 on top.

In terms of optics, the Galaxy S22+ features a triple camera setup with a 50MP primary dual pixel shooter, a 12MP ultrawide-angle sensor, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS. You get a 10MP selfie shooter with an f/2.2 aperture and an 80-degree field-of-view.

The Galaxy S22 offers up to 256GB of storage, in terms of connectivity, you get 5G, 4G LTE, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port.

You get the same set of sensors as on the Samsung Galaxy S22 and the same under-display fingerprint sensor. The Galaxy S22+ has a 4,500mAh battery with support for 45W charging, 15W wireless charging, and Wireless PowerShare reverse wireless charging as well.

The Samsung Galaxy S22+ is available in an 8GB RAM+128GB variant, and an 8GB RAM+256GB storage variant. The Galaxy S22+ has been priced at $999 or 74,800 INR.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra:

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will be the first S-Series smartphone to feature an S-Pen integrated into the body, the device has a 70% lower latency than its predecessor. Similar to the devices, the Galaxy S22 Ultra runs on Android 12 OS with One UI 4.1 on top.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra has a larger 6.8″ Edge QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a high yet adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz. The display has a peak brightness of 1,750 nits and it comes with updated Wacom technology which will support the S-Pen and reduce latency.

The chip here is again selective and varies on a region to region basis, India will get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Chip as per Samsung. In the optics department, you get a quad-camera setup with a 108MP primary sensor, a 10MP telephoto lens, a 12MP ultrawide-angle sensor, and a 10MP telephoto lens as the fourth sensor with 10x optical zoom.

The camera supports Space Zoom, offers 10x optical zoom, and 10x digital zoom with AI Super-resolution technology. The Galaxy S22 Ultra has a 40MP selfie shooter with an f/2.2 aperture.

In terms of storage, the Galaxy S22 Ultra comes in 128GB/256GB/512GB/1TB storage configurations. You get the same connectivity options as in the previous Galaxy S22 Series models, you get NFC support, and UWB. The same set of sensors can be observed here as well along with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging support, 15W wireless charging support, and Wireless PowerShare reverse charging support.

The best model in the Galaxy S22 Series retails at $1,199 or 89,700 INR. Samsung has not yet specified when the devices will be made available in India but as per Samsung, the Galaxy S22 Series will go on sale from 25th of February.
