Mohamed Salah is the most in-form player in the Premier League this season. Although he is currently absent due to national team duty for Egypt, he remains the top scorer in the league. And with time drawing closer to the end of his contract, there is an air of uncertainty surrounding his future at Anfield.
Salah has a contract with Liverpool that runs until 2023, and by the time the season ends, he will only have one year left on his current deal. The winger has asked for a salary worth £400,000 per week to renew his deal with the Merseyside club, which would make him the club’s highest earner.
Salah’s agent post cryptic tweet as contract talks continue
Ramy Abbas Issa, Mohamed Salah’s agent, posted a picture of the player laughing on his Twitter account with no caption. Some fans assumed that Liverpool’s latest offer is laughable, or that an agreement is close to completion.
“I don’t know what I can say on top of what I said already. What is the problem? I wouldn’t say there is a problem to be honest,” Jurgen Klopp said.
“These are conversations. I’m not sure if two big companies try to come together, usually in normal life and business that is not done overnight. Signing a big contract, it is not like buying a smartphone where you just sign one thing and it is done.
“There are a lot of things to consider, some from the club’s side and some from the player’s side and a lot from the agent’s side. That’s the thing. Nothing else.”
