The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB graphics card was not on display at CES 2022, but it exists and will be unveiled next week.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB was supposed to be unveiled at CES, but it was postponed at the last minute, similar to how the RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB’s unveiling was postponed from its initial date of December 17th. The card will be released next week, on January 11th at 6 a.m. PST, according to information we have from our sources. There’s no word on pricing or availability yet, but we’ve heard that pre-orders and possibly sales will start the same day.

NVIDIA RTX 3080 12 GB Graphics Card – What To Expect From The Latest Ampere

NVIDIA is projected to enable a total of 70 SM units in the GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB, resulting in a total of 8960 CUDA cores, a 3% increase over the normal RTX 3080. NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3080 includes CUDA cores as well as next-generation RT (Ray-Tracing) cores, Tensor cores, and brand new SM or streaming multi-processor units. The TDP of the card is indicated to be 350W.

In terms of memory, the new GeForce RTX 3080 comes with 12 GB of memory, which is also next-generation GDDR6X. The RTX 3080 can achieve 19.0 Gbps GDDR6X memory rates thanks to Micron’s freshest and finest graphics memory chips. This, along with a 384-bit bus interface, results in a total bandwidth of 912 GB/s, a 20% improvement over the 10 GB variant.

The reception of this card is mostly determined by its price. While the GeForce RTX 3080’s MSRP of $699 US was never accurate, the same can be assumed with the 12 GB model. It will fall somewhere between the RTX 3080 10 GB and the RTX 3080 Ti 12 GB graphics cards, so expect an MSRP of $899-$999 US and practical pricing of over $1500 US. In terms of performance, the card could wind up being very similar to the RTX 3080 Ti at a lower price.
