The iPhone 17 series, which will arrive in late 2025, could feature some of the biggest display upgrades we’ve ever seen for Apple‘s flagship line of smartphones. There is very little official information out there, but there are multiple rumors that at least some of the improvements will be quite significant across the iPhone lineup. The refresh is expected to bring improved refresh rates with new materials and better energy efficiency. Here are five key display changes said to be coming to the iPhone 17 series:

The iPhone 17 might also feature an all-new 6.3-inch display on the regular iPhone 17, which would be up from the current 6.1 inches and match the size of the iPhone 16 Pro. Bumped the Plus model, which is said to be getting axed, so to speak, this would bridge the screen size between the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 and the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus. The iPhone 17 lineup might include a 6.3-inch standard model, a 6.6-inch “Air” model, a 6.3-inch Pro, and a 6.9-inch Pro Max.

All iPhone 17 models will be outfitted with the smoother 120Hz ProMotion feature for scrolling and video playback. Only the Pro models had this feature earlier. The iPhone 17 is expected to feature a more durable anti-reflective display, offering greater scratch resistance than the Ceramic Shield on the iPhone 15. The details are vague at this point, but they may include Corning’s most advanced glass technology, which may become in line with Samsung’s Gorilla Glass Armor. There’s a new “metalens” technology that’s been developed for the Face ID system, which might allow the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 17 Pro Max to be thinner.
