Roundglass Punjab have won the I-League title after defeating Rajasthan FC 4-0, and have now gained promotion to the ISL for the coming season. They have become the first team to be promoted to the top tier, after the levelled system was announced.

The promotion, however, is subject to the clearance of all the stakeholders of the football club. The I-League trophy was last won by Minerva Punjab in 2017/18, and now returns to the state after a five-year gap.

With their league win, Roundglass Punjab have also earned entry into the season’s Super Cup as the winners of the second division.

Chencho Gyeltshen, Luka Majcen, Juan Mera and Hmingthanmawia scored against Rajasthan FC to seal their win in emphatic fashion. On the other hand, their opponents drew a complete blank and were outplayed by a significant margin.

Punjab are at the top of the table with 49 points from an available 63, from 21 games. Sreenidi Deccan slipped up in their last two games, while Punjab have won all of their last five. And in the process, their title challenge has been cut short.

Roundglass Punjab could be the only team representing North India in the ISL next season, in the new format of the Indian football system.
