Pre-season football is finally here, and United fans have circled this one hard. The Red Devils touch down in Trondheim to take on Rosenborg at the iconic Lerkendal Stadion — a ground where United have history, having lost their only previous meeting here. This time, Ruben Amorim’s men will want a very different result.

Preview
Rosenborg go into this one as the sentimental home favourites, buoyed by a raucous Lerkendal crowd and the memory of their surprise win in the last meeting. Manchester United, meanwhile, are using this fixture to shake off rust, test fitness levels, and give Amorim an early look at squad depth ahead of the new Premier League season.
Predicted Lineups
Expect United to rotate heavily, blending returning first-teamers with academy prospects who impressed in pre-season training. Rosenborg are likely to field a strong Eliteserien-based XI, eager to make a statement against Premier League opposition. Final lineups are typically confirmed around an hour before kickoff.
Prediction
On current form and squad depth, Manchester United should edge this — but pre-season friendlies are unpredictable, and Rosenborg’s home advantage can’t be ignored. A narrow United win, or a share of the spoils, feels realistic.
