Roma announce departure of CEO Lina Souloukou after De Rossi sacking

AS Roma have announced that the club’s CEO, Lina Souloukou has stepped down from her role. She reportedly received threats from the supporters after the shocking dismissal of club legend Daniele De Rossi as the club’s first team head coach.

De Rossi was reportedly at odds with Souloukou, which eventually led to him being sacked. Now, the owners have opted for a change of leadership at the top level as well.

“AS Roma announces today that CEO Lina Souloukou has stepped down from her role,” read a statement.

“We thank Lina for her dedicated service during a critical period for the club and wish her the best in her future endeavors.

“The ownership remains fully committed to the club’s growth and success, with continued focus on the values that make our club so special.”

The club has appointed Ivan Juric as the new head coach, signing a contract till the end of the season. The former Torino and Hellas Verona manager helped Roma earn their first win this weekend in a 3-0 victory over Udinese.

It remains to be seen whether Juric can help the newly assembled squad reach the Champions League spots for next season.
