Rohit Sharma breaks Don Bradman’s record

Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma on Sunday surpassed former Australia cricketer Don Bradman’s record of highest average in Test Cricket on home soil.

Rohit achieved the feat on day two of the third Test match against South Africa.The right-handed batsman broke the 71-year-old record previously held by Bradman. The legendary cricketer had an average of 98.22 on home soil in Test Cricket.

Rohit’s average rose to 99.84 after the batsman smashed his first double hundred in the longest format of the game on Sunday.

A minimum of ten innings has been kept as the benchmark for the record.

On Saturday, Rohit also broke the record for registering the most number of sixes in a bilateral Test series. Sharma went past West Indies’ batsman Shimron Hetmeyer who had registered 15 sixes in the series against Bangladesh in 2018-19.

Before Hetmyer, Harbhajan Singh held the record as he hit 14 sixes in the series against New Zealand in 2010/11.

RoHITMAN has now smashed sixteen sixes in the entire series.

Rohit achieved the feat on the first day of the third and final Test against South Africa at Ranchi.

Rohit has scored more than 500 runs in the ongoing series against South Africa.

Rohit is now the only Indian to have reached his 100 and 200 with a six in the same innings in Tests.

Interestingly, the former hard-hitting batsman Sehwag is the only player to have reached his 100 and 300 with a six in the same innings in Tests whereas, Rohit is now the only Indian to have reached his 100 and 200 with a six in the same innings in Tests.

After scoring 212 in the first innings of the third test Rohit has now scored 529 runs in this test series. In a tri series it is the fourth most runs scored by an Indian. The top three are Virat Kohli with 610 runs, Virendra Sehwag with 544 runs and Sourav Ganguly with 534 runs.
