India’s star cricketer Rishabh Pant met with an unfortunate accident on December 30, 2022, and has been injured majorly. Though he survives the accident due to his injuries, he will be missing almost all the games in 2023. His three key ligaments are broken out of which two were reconstructed and surgery will take place after six weeks.

His return to the field is dependent on his rehab and the training he takes in after getting discharged. He will be released from the hospital in one week but will have to return there once again for the second surgery. Earlier, he was airlifted from Dehradun to Mumbai for treatment in Kokilaben hospital and is currently under the supervision of Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala.

Generally, a knee ligament surgery needs 6 months to recover. However, to return in action, his knees will be needed to get strengthened. After the intensity of the damage is determined, the doctors can state on how long it will take for Rishabh Pant to recover.

He played last against Bangladesh in the home series in December. In IPL, he’s the skipper of Delhi Capitals but due to his injury, he’s set to miss this year’s tournament. If India qualifies to the World Test Championship, he’ll also miss this important clash. The selectors have kept KS Bharat and Ishan Kishan as the options for wicketkeeping in his absence for the first half of the Australia Test series. One of them will be the wicketkeeper in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand in the next week.
