Rio Ferdinand has become the latest inductee into the Premier League Hall of Fame. The Manchester United defender is hailed as one of the greatest of all-time, and has now taken his place, recognised with the highest award that is possible from the league body.

The centre-back made 504 appearances while playing for Manchester United, West Ham, Leeds United, keeping 189 clean sheets and scoring 11 goals during his career. He won 6 Premier League titles, and was one of the best ball-playing defenders of his time.

Ferdinand is most fondly remembered for his time with the Red Devils, having joined them for a record fee in 2002, and the rest is history. He went on to win the Champions League with United as well, and won 81 caps for the England national team.

The defender played for United until 2014, before being released. He went on to play for QPR, but could not save them from relegation. Rio Ferdinand eventually hung up his boots in 2015, and has now moved into punditry.

After his former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, and Arsene Wenger, Ferdinand is the first player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame this season. He has been joined by Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech and Tony Adams as the players to enter so far this year.
