In 2017, Paris Saint-Germain signed Neymar from Barcelona for an outrageous €222 million that changed the transfer market forever. To this day, the Brazilian’s signing is the most expensive transfer to take place in the history of the sport.
As reported by El Mundo, the total money spent on Neymar by PSG is an eye-watering €489,228,117. He is currently in his fifth season at the club.
El Mundo has now also revealed a special clause in the Brazilian’s contract. Neymar earns a sum of €541,680 per month for being ‘courteous, punctual, friendly, and available to fans. That same clause prohibits him from publicly criticising the club’s tactical setup.’
Neymar’s contract requires him to ‘have the courtesy to greet fans before and after each game’, and says that he must avoid ‘any adverse comment about the team’s tactical choices’ and that he must avoid ‘negative public comments about the club, those who wort there and those who support him’.
Neymar has now been reunited with his former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi. PSG’s attacking trio of Messi-Neymar-Mbappe is one of the best on paper. PSG hope to finally win the Champions League trophy this season.
