Resident Evil Village on AMD Radeon graphics is an absolute joy to play

Capcom started to drift on the momentum that they got from Resident Evil 7, bringing those remakes from that time. Finally, Capcom is here with an original entry after a couple of years, the Resident Evil Village.

Resident Evil Village holds the story of Ethan Winters. The players following the series will definitely be excited to continue the storyline. We can assume that it was definitely not so easy to make this classic scary title. The story of Resident Evil Village starts with Ethan Winters, where he lives with his little family in Europe.

Capcom launched the horror game Resident Evil Village, and AMD has been a long partnership with the publisher, so getting some performance improvements on AMD graphics is expected. We had the Radeon RX 6700 XT and our Ryzen 7 5800X combo to test the new game, so here’s how the game performed:

Do note that AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 21.5.1 update is used, and it promises up to 13% performance uplift while playing Resident Evil Village.

AT 4K high settings and picture quality set to 1.5, the games look great, and you get around 40 FPS on average. This makes the game more not only playable but attractive too.

At 4K, the level of detailing, lights & shadows, reflections looks absolutely stunning and you can even turn on Ray tracing with AMD GPUs, making the game even more attractive visually.

Obviously, you can fiddle with the game settings and increase or decrease the quality of visuals and turn on features like FidelityFX or Variable Rate Shading and others. While I was getting 40-50 FPS at various high settings, while turing on ray tracing, there wasn’t a huge performance drop to my surprise.

At 4K high settings and ray tracing on, the mid-range GPU like RX 6700 XT gave a handsome 35 FPS on average, so with a beefier GPU like RX 6800 XT you can expect even better performance. However, it is the first time, I have such good ray tracing performance in any game with AMD GPUs.

Now at 1440p, which is the settings, you should play with RX 6700 XT and with ray tracing on, you get around 45 FPS, and if turned off, you get well over 60 FPS. However, this game is graphics-rich and so playing at high settings gives a more horrific experience that makes the game even more enjoyable.
