Poco M2 is the latest offering from the Xiaomi spinoff brand Poco in India and for its features and price it fights head to head to Xiaomi’s own Redmi 9 or Redmi 9 Prime and many people out there are having doubts on whether Poco M2 is Redmi 9 Prime is it any different.
So it turned out Poco’s M2 is a huge bummer to company’s fans in India who were expecting an original smartphone from Poco but Poco turned their back on us by launching another rebranded Redmi smartphone in the country. So from every evident perspective, Poco M2 is Redmi 9 Prime but with few different changes which we’ll be discussing below to clear our views on this.
So the one prominent difference between the Redmi 9 Prime and Poco M2 which can be seen physically is different back. Everything is the same from the quad-camera setup which consists a 13MP primary, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor to the 6.53″ FullHD+ display with a waterdrop notch that houses the front-facing 8MP sensor and has Gorilla Glass 3 protection just like the Redmi 9 Prime and even the same 5000mAH battery is being used here which can be charged over the 18W but Poco is shipping the standard 18W charger in the box same as Redmi but Poco has given M2 the M2 Pro treatment as it has the same dual-tone plastic back and also it’s available in three different colors Brick Red, Slate Blue, and Pitch Black.
Well speaking of internals Poco has changed a little bit but not completely so technically at the end of the day its the only Redmi 9 Prime just with a Poco branding on it. The only bump which Poco M2 got is the terms of RAM which got increased to 6GB from Redmi 9 Prime’s 4GB while keeping the same SoC at its heart, the Mediatek Helio G80 along with 64/128GB of internal storage.
Apart from the few minor changes in hardware, the Poco M2 comes with a cleaner MIUI which doesn’t offer up advertisements which Poco likes to call PocoUI so if you want an ad-free experience then you can go with the Poco M2 because there might not be many differences between the Redmi 9 Prime and Poco M2.
The decision is totally up to you whether you would like to shell out an extra INR 1000 for the base variant or you can get the more Ram and ad-free experience for just INR 500 if you go for the 6GB/128GB variant.
