Reasons to Hold Out for the Apple iPhone 17 Series: Exciting Features Coming in 2025

The cycle of every Apple model extends far into the future, so suppliers can work on several models at the same time. Such long-term planning inevitably results in early leaks about upcoming features. The Apple iPhone 17 range will be no different and we could expect this when it rolls out, around September 2025. Below are a few things we might expect from Apple’s future product line.

Reasons to Wait for iPhone 17 Series

Apple iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are expected to bring in an under-display Face ID technology with these models. This includes a circle cutout for the front-facing camera, as you can see in this image below, the very last time Apple is going to be using this design before switching to first all under-display cameras.

In terms of display sizes, the Apple iPhone 17 and 17 Plus may adopt new dimensions. Following the increase in screen sizes of the iPhone 16 series, the 2025 models are expected to continue this trend, potentially featuring a 6.27-inch display for the standard model and new dimensions for the 17 Plus. Apple plans to expand ProMotion technology to its standard iPhone models, allowing for a 120Hz refresh rate and an always-on display that can show essential information like the Lock Screen clock and notifications.

In terms of connectivity, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro models are expected to sport a brand new Apple-designed Wi-Fi 7 chip which should provide faster speeds and superior reliability. This will reduce Apple’s reliance on external suppliers for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology. The iPhone 17 Pro Max might also feature a 48-megapixel telephoto lens, optimizing it for use with Apple’s Vision Pro headset. Additionally, all iPhone 17 models could come with a 24-megapixel front camera and an enhanced anti-reflective display that is more scratch-resistant than current models.

Memory upgrades are also expected, with rumors suggesting up to 12GB of RAM for the Apple iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. This would enhance multitasking capabilities and support advanced AI features. The iPhone 17 Pro Max may introduce a smaller Dynamic Island, and a new model, possibly named the iPhone 17 Air, could feature a thinner design, a single rear camera, and improved specs.
