Realme has recently added the Narzo 30 5G smartphone in India and it was the fifth phone from the brand. Now, it seems that the company is planning to launch an affordable 5G smartphone that falls in the budget segment. At the global 5G summit, the company has announced that it’s working on a 5G phone for under USD 100 (approx Rs 7,000).
Yesterday, however, Realme India and Europe CEO, Madhav Sheth revealed that the brand would be launching a Realme 5G smartphone in the market for just Rs 7,000, with the company further revealing its sales goals for the upcoming Diwali season that usually sees increased sales for the holidays.
In an interview with India Today Tech, Sheth has revealed that Realme will be launching the budget 5G smartphone in India, priced at $100 or approximately Rs 7,000. “…we are on it and aiming to make this happen at [the] fastest,” Madhav Sheth told India Today. “Realme aims to be a 5G leader in India and also globally and we strongly believe that everyone deserves to have a 5G device. About 90 percent of our R&D resources have been shifted to 5G to develop 5G technology and products, with which we may be able to further lower our cost on R&D of 5G,” said Sheth.
As mentioned earlier, he also talked about the plans for Diwali, revealing that Realme aims to sell at least 60 lakh smartphone units in India during Diwali, which is set to take place on November 4th. According to him, the preparation for the Diwali season has started and has the confidence to best meet the demand of the Diwali season in terms of stock.
He further added that the company would be launching its products under the new 1+5+T strategy, which stands for selling five smartphones for one product from a specific category that will consist of smartwatches, laptops, wireless headphones, TVs and smart speakers, as well as one product from the TechLife category, be it sockets or light bulbs.
