Contrary to the reports coming out of Spain, Zinedine Zidane hasn’t said anything to anyone at Real Madrid. Nothing has been decided about his future, and nothing has been announced either. As reported by Fabrizio Romano on the Here We Go podcast, he will not be sacked by the board.

If he wants to stay, he’ll stay. If he decides to leave, Madrid are prepared with a shortlist for a new manager. Former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri and Raul have been linked with the job. Florentino Perez tried for the Italian three years ago, but he was committed to Juventus.

Now he’s available and is discussing with people close to the club. Allegri is a serious option. He was approached by various Italian clubs for recruitment but said his priority is Real Madrid. Raul is on the list, but the priority is Allegri. Hence, if negotiations break down between him and Madrid, the former striker could be the man to take charge.

Given that Andrea Pirlo will be leaving Juventus at the end of the season, there is no direct contact with Juventus regarding the managerial post.

The Madrid board could change if Zidane leaves. They want a new era, as said by Florentino Perez himself on El Chiringuito, and this is the way to go forward.

Moving on to the players, Martin Odegaard is happy with Arsenal. He is out on loan without a buy option. A discussion at the end of the season will make the situation clearer. David Alaba has signed the first part of the contract and it is now a done deal. Madrid will also be in the market for a new centre-back to cover for Ramos or Varane should either of them leave.

Sergio Ramos

Ramos’ contract situation is still open. PSG is the only club in touch with him, and there have been no talks between him and the club regarding an extension.
