Real Madrid loanee Kubo to leave Villarreal in January

Takefusa Kubo is one of the most highly rated youngsters in the world. And if recent reports by Mundo Deportivo are to be believed, the Japanese starlet is not too happy at Villarreal.

The 19-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest prospects in world football but isn’t featuring regularly for Unai Emery this season.

Villareal had a brilliant summer transfer window as they managed to sign Kubo, along with Dani Parejo and Parvis Estupinan among others. However, the Japanese midfielder has found minutes hard to come by in the yellow shirt.

In La Liga, Kubo has made ten appearances but has only featured for 173 minutes. He has only made the starting XI once, against Getafe, and was subbed off after the hour mark.

The teenager has not managed to rack a single goal contribution in the league. However, Kubo has made the starting lineup in all four matches for the Europa League where he has managed to score a goal and provide three assists.

According to the player himself, he was quoted saying he “does not want his career to suffer a stop during this season of stay in the Submarine.”

A lot of clubs were monitoring Kubo after his impressive loan spell at Mallorca, last season. However, the team was relegated from La Liga following the end of the 19/20 season.

Considering that the player is still very young, he needs to feature in the team week in and week out to build on his skills on the pitch. Madrid seems to be a destination for Kubo down the line, but until he reaches a certain level, loan spells seem to be the way out.

The Japanese teenager is set to be on his way out of Villareal in January itself, and it will be interesting to see where he finds himself next to get regular playing time.
