Real Madrid reportedly accepted a bid around €50 million for their centre-back, and he is expected to fly to England this week to complete the move. Personal terms have been agreed between the player and United for a long time. He has been offered a contract until 2025 with the option to extend for another year, and will be paid a sum around £200,000 per week.
The delay in the announcement is due to the quarantine rules that Varane will have to follow in England. This will delay his medical assessment by a few days, but once he passes, he will be unveiled as a new Manchester United player. Varane informed the club that he wanted a change of pace, and refused to negotiate a new deal with a year remaining on his current contract which forced Madrid to let him go.
