Real Madrid and Manchester United reach agreement for Raphael Varane transfer

After months of speculation, an agreement has been reached between Manchester United and Real Madrid for the transfer of Raphael Varane. The deal has been given the here we go signal by renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, and is set to be officially announced in the next week.

Real Madrid reportedly accepted a bid around €50 million for their centre-back, and he is expected to fly to England this week to complete the move. Personal terms have been agreed between the player and United for a long time. He has been offered a contract until 2025 with the option to extend for another year, and will be paid a sum around £200,000 per week.

The delay in the announcement is due to the quarantine rules that Varane will have to follow in England. This will delay his medical assessment by a few days, but once he passes, he will be unveiled as a new Manchester United player. Varane informed the club that he wanted a change of pace, and refused to negotiate a new deal with a year remaining on his current contract which forced Madrid to let him go.

Madrid have lost both their starting centre-backs now that Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane are out the exit door. Manchester United, on the other hand, have laid down their intentions of challenging for the title with the acquisition of Jadon Sancho, and now, Varane.

The official bid was accepted by the Spanish giants yesterday, and the two parties are preparing the final paperworks for the transfer to go through.
