The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) recently made headlines as they bid adieu to two prominent figures of their coaching staff, Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar. After four eventful years, the team management decided not to extend their tenures, signalling a new chapter in RCB’s coaching setup.

Let’s have a look into the reasons behind this decision and the exciting new addition to the RCB family: RCB Bids Farewell to Mike Hesson & Sanjay Bangar

The End of an Era

After a fruitful association with RCB, Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar have stepped down from their roles as Director of Cricket Operations and head coach, respectively. Both of them played crucial roles in providing opportunities to budding talents and shaping the team’s journey over the past four seasons.

Legacy of Commendable Work

RCB expressed gratitude towards Hesson and Bangar for their commendable work during their tenure. Their professionalism, dedication, and strong work ethics have always been highly regarded within the franchise. Under their guidance, several young players were nurtured and given the platform to showcase their talents on the grand stage.

Hesson’s Impactful Tenure

Mike Hesson joined RCB in 2019 as the Director of Cricket Operations and played a pivotal role in the team’s success. Under his guidance, RCB reached three successive playoffs, a remarkable achievement for the franchise. Despite not lifting the IPL trophy, Hesson’s tenure was marked by consistent performances and nurturing young talents.

Bangar’s Contribution to Kohli’s Form

Sanjay Bangar joined RCB in 2021 as the head coach and made a significant impact on the team. He played a key role in helping Virat Kohli regain his form during the IPL 2023 season. Bangar’s coaching expertise and insights were valued by the players and management alike.

RCB’s New Head Coach – Andy Flower

RCB wasted no time in announcing the appointment of Andy Flower as the head coach for the IPL 2024 season. The former Zimbabwean cricketer comes with rich coaching experience, having coached teams like England and won major tournaments like the T20 World Cup in 2010.

Flower’s Excitement for the New Journey

Andy Flower expressed his pride and honour in joining RCB, a franchise known for its massive fan following. He acknowledged the exciting roster of players and embraced the responsibility that comes with the role of head coach. Flower is eager to take RCB to new heights and build a competitive unit for the upcoming seasons.

RCB’s Quest for Excellence

RCB’s decision to part ways with Hesson and Bangar came after an internal review post-IPL 2023. While the team management appreciated their efforts, the franchise aimed to address performance concerns. With Andy Flower at the helm, RCB is committed to pursuing excellence both on and off the field.

As RCB turns a new leaf with the departure of Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar, the franchise embraces the exciting challenge of the IPL 2024 season. With Andy Flower, a seasoned coach, taking charge, RCB aims to build a strong and competitive team that can finally lift the coveted IPL trophy. While bidding farewell to two respected figures, the franchise looks ahead with enthusiasm and determination to create a memorable season for its fans.
