IPl 2023 has been a terrific show of runs so far, with high totals being chased down with ease. However, there have been a few low-scoring exciting encounters as well. Match 43 of the edition saw something similar when RCB defeated LSG by 18 runs at the latter’s home ground.
RCB defeats LSG by 18 runs in a low-scoring game
In a rain-interrupted game, RCB decided to bat first after winning the game. Quite unlike their power-packed batting, they could only put up 126 runs on the board. Faf Du Plessis was back as a captain again and scored the highest for his team today, 44 of 40.
Ravi Bishnoi was impressive again with the ball as he picked up the crucial wickets of Kohli and Maxwell. Amit Mishra picked two wickets too, and the young talent Naveen-ul-Haq picked up three wickets.
Coming down to bat, LSG was shaky from the beginning as Siraj dismissed their powerhouse Mayers in the second ball of the innings.
The KL Rahul-led side struggled to get back to momentum and was bundled for 108, ensuring a smooth victory for the Royals.
KL Rahul’s injury evokes concerns
Meanwhile, there might be hard news for LSG. While fielding, KL Rahul had an injury in his feet. He didn’t open the inning and came down to bat for the last wicket.
He couldn’t run between the wickets and was unbeaten for 0 after facing three balls.
After the match, Kohli was captured having a small conversation with Rahul, seeming to ask about his injury. If it’s a very serious one or he can play from the next game itself, is yet to be announced by the franchise.
