Ravi Shastri, the current head coach of the Indian team is set to declare his departure from the team as a coach. Moreover, he will likely step down from his role after the T20 World Cup. As a result, Virat Kohli and India will have to move forward and find a suitable head coach.

This news is according to the reports of Indian Express. Further, Ravi Shastri has communicated with the few members of the board to discuss his exit. Therefore it is imminent that Ravi Shastri will leave the coaching role.

Moreover, the reason behind Shastri’s exit is unknown. However, his contract as a coach will expire after the T20 World Cup. Thereafter age could be one of the reasons as per assumption. Owing to the fact, that BCCI has set an upper age limit for the head coach job to 60 and Ravi Shastri is currently 59 years old.

Hence he would like to move out on his own terms before the board starts exploring other options. Moving forward, as Ravi Shastri’s role as a head coach is set to get over, there will be certain candidates who will be favourites for the job.

Former Indian captain and current India A & India U-19 Coach Rahul Dravid would be the favourite for this role. However, it also depends on Dravid whether he wants to coach this side or continue his stint at India A.

When will BCCI advertise for the new Head Coach of Indian Team?

The BCCI will attract applications for the new head coach of the Indian team after the conclusion of the Phase two of IPL 2021 in UAE. The board has a committee in place that will shortlist few select candidates from the applications and appoint the best possible coach for the Indian Cricket team.

Moreover, this committee will also seek the opinion of Virat Kohli who is the Indian captain and also ask for his preference before making any decision. Therefore it would be interesting who the committee will select as the future head coach of the Indian Cricket team.
