Manchester United have identified Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund as the priority in the centre-forward position. The 20-year-old has agreed personal terms with the club, but an agreement between the two clubs is essential for the move to go through.
An official bid has not been sent by the club yet, as their current priority is to sign a new goalkeeper. Inter Milan’s Andre Onana is inching closer to a move and is expected to sign for United imminently. After the club has wrapped up the move for the Cameroonian, they will turn their attention to Hojlund to bolster their attack.
Manchester United to step up their pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund
The Denmark international scored ten goals in his debut campaign with La Dea. He also impressed with the national team, scoring six times in three months to put the top clubs in Europe on notice.
Should he secure a move to Old Trafford this summer, the expectations will be very high. United are in need of a reliable goal scoring forward, in order to supplement the output from Marcus Rashford, who was the club’s main source of goals this past season.
As a result, the 20-year-old will have to find his feet in Manchester early and cope with the pressure of playing in the Premier League.
United were linked with a move for Harry Kane earlier in the window, but Spurs will not sell their star striker to a Premier League rival. They have also been priced out of a move for Victor Osimhen of Napoli, while Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic also looks unlikely to join right now.
The Red Devils will have to move fast for Rasmus Hojlund, as PSG are also interested in signing him according to several sources.
