Raphael Varane has accepted a contract proposal from Serie A newcomers Como and is set to join them in a free transfer. He has given the green light to a contract till 2026, with the option for one more season.
The defender was available as a free agent after leaving Manchester United upon the expiry of his contract at the end of June. New manager Cesc Fabregas was vital in convincing the World Cup winner to join the project.

Former Real Madrid and Man United CB will play in Serie A under Cesc Fabregas as manager.

The 31-year-old’s time at Manchester United was hindered by injuries. This eventually led to him announcing his retirement from international football prematurely.
However, Como are building an interesting project and have already recruited Andrea Belotti and Alberto Moreno to reinforce their squad. With the addition of Raphael Varane to their ranks, it’ll be interesting to see if they can build on their momentum to retain their place in Serie A at the end of the season.
