“Rao Bahadur” Is Streaming Soon — Here’s Where to Watch Satyadev’s Dark Family Thriller

Some films are meant to be devoured on the big screen; others quietly demand a second watch once they hit streaming. “Rao Bahadur,” Satyadev’s psychological dark comedy that opened in theaters on July 3, 2026, is about to join the second category — and fans of twisted family dramas won’t want to miss it.

When and Where to Watch Rao Bahadur?

Netflix confirmed the release through its official social media handles, teasing the film’s rebellious tone with a caption that roughly translates to it “scrubbing your mind free of society’s rules.”

What’s the Film About?

At its core, “Rao Bahadur” is a story about obsession, legacy, and the lies families tell to protect their bloodlines. The plot follows Bhuvanam Ramappa Rao Bahadur, a terminally ill aristocrat convinced his late younger son Kusuma wasn’t biologically his. His paranoia, born from a surreal encounter with his ancestors years earlier, spirals into tragedy — pushing his wife Renuka into isolation and his elder son Lavana into holding the fractured family together.

The twist comes late: after secretly exhuming Kusuma’s remains for a DNA test that confirms his fears were unfounded, Ramappa dies believing his lineage is intact. At his funeral, though, an even bigger revelation surfaces — one that flips the entire film’s central obsession on its head and suggests the family’s destructive cycle isn’t over yet.

Behind the Film

Written, edited, and directed by Venkatesh Maha (who also appears in a cameo), “Rao Bahadur” is presented by Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar under the GMB Entertainment banner. Music comes from Smaran Sai, with Kartik Parmar behind the camera.

With its blend of dark comedy, family drama, and a supernatural undertone, the film has already generated strong reactions from theatrical audiences — and its Netflix debut across five languages should widen that conversation considerably.
