Bollywood’s most anticipated franchise continuation, Don 3, has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Reports suggest a massive fallout between Ranveer Singh and director Farhan Akhtar over shocking demands including seven vanity vans and unbound scripts. But what really happened behind the scenes of this high-profile project?
Don 3 Controversy: Overview
| Category | Details |
|---|---|
| Film | Don 3 (Shelved/Uncertain) |
| Original Star | Ranveer Singh (Replaced) |
| Director | Farhan Akhtar |
| New Lead | TBA |
| Alleged Issue | Star tantrums, creative differences |
| Key Demands | 7 vanity vans, no bound scripts |
| Status | Production uncertain |
| Franchise | Don series continuation |
The Shocking Allegations
According to explosive report, Ranveer Singh allegedly demanded seven vanity vans and refused to work with bound scripts, creating unprecedented tension on the Don 3 set. These demands reportedly crossed professional boundaries, leading to the eventual fallout with Farhan Akhtar.
The seven vanity vans requirement allegedly included separate spaces for different purposes – makeup, costume changes, rest, script reading, and personal staff – a demand that insiders called excessive even by Bollywood’s lavish standards.
The Unbound Script Issue
More concerning than vanity vans was Ranveer’s alleged insistence on receiving unbound scripts. In the film industry, bound scripts represent finalized, approved versions ready for shooting. Unbound scripts suggest constant changes and creative control conflicts.
This demand reportedly signaled Ranveer’s desire for significant creative input, potentially undermining Farhan Akhtar’s directorial vision for the iconic Don franchise.
Don 3’s Troubled Journey
The Don franchise, revitalized by Shah Rukh Khan under Farhan’s direction, achieved cult status with Don (2006) and Don 2 (2011). Ranveer Singh’s casting as SRK’s successor generated massive excitement, making this fallout particularly disappointing for fans.
Pre-production delays, creative disagreements, and now these alleged star tantrums have pushed Don 3 into limbo, leaving the franchise’s future uncertain.
Industry Perspective
While star demands aren’t uncommon in Bollywood, industry insiders suggest seven vanity vans and script control represent extreme requests that could disrupt production schedules and budgets. Farhan Akhtar, known for his disciplined filmmaking approach, reportedly found these demands unacceptable.
The situation highlights ongoing debates about star culture versus creative integrity in Indian cinema.
What Happens Next?
With Ranveer allegedly out, speculation swirls about who’ll step into Don’s iconic shoes. Names like Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor, and even a return of Shah Rukh Khan have been floated, though nothing is confirmed.
Farhan Akhtar’s silence on the matter suggests he’s carefully considering the franchise’s future rather than rushing into hasty decisions.
The Bigger Picture
This controversy raises questions about evolving power dynamics in Bollywood, where star demands sometimes overshadow storytelling. The Ranveer Singh-Farhan Akhtar fallout serves as a cautionary tale about balancing star power with collaborative filmmaking.
