Rakuten BIG 5G launched in Japan featuring an under-display selfie camera

The ZTE Axon 20 5G is the first phone in the world that features an under-display selfie camera, launched in the previous month. Now, Japanese telecommunication giant Rakuten has also joined the party with that launch of its Rakuten BIG smartphone, whose main highlights are the huge display and an under-display selfie camera. For its massive footprint, this phone is named as the Rakuten ‘BIG’. Let’s get into the specifications of this phone.

The Rakuten BIG smartphone runs on Android 10 OS and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm snapdragon 765G chipset. Regarding the display, this phone features a huge 6.9-inch Full HD+ OLED display with the support of an in-display fingerprint scanner. This phone is available in three different color variants: Black, White, and Crimson Red.

Coming to the cameras, this phone features a vertically designed quad-rear camera setup, which includes a 64 megapixels primary shooter, 8 megapixels ultra-wide lens, as well as a pair of 2 megapixels depth and macro cameras. For the selfies and video calling, this phone is equipped with a 32 megapixels under-display selfie camera. That means the user will get a totally full-screen experience as there will not be any kind of notches.

The 765G chipset of this phone is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The storage is further expandable via an external microSD card. This phone has every other connectivity features, especially the support of the 5G network.

Regarding the battery, this phone is fueled by a decent 4,000mAH battery. In terms of other features, this phone includes an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, as well as its support for NFC connectivity.

Let’s get into the pricing and availability. For the interested ones, the Rakuten BIG is currently available in the Japanese market with a price tag of 69,800 Yen (US$660) for its sole 6GB+128GB model.
