Rainbow Six Extraction to be a day 1 Xbox Game Pass title

Rainbow Six Extraction isn’t even out yet, but the Ubisoft Montreal game has just gotten a significant boost in its player count with the announcement that it will be a Day 1 Xbox Game Pass title. Chris Early of Ubisoft had the following to say about the acquisition…

By making Rainbow Six Extraction available to Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass members on the day and date of its launch via Xbox Game Pass, we’re demonstrating that we believe in the value and choice that game subscriptions offer to players.

Rainbow Six Extraction for Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass members is just the beginning. Ultimately, we will offer the Ubisoft+ subscription service to Xbox owners so that they can enjoy the full extent of our Ubisoft+ game library, including new releases, on their consoles.

Ubisoft appears to be anxious to get as many people to play Rainbow Six Extraction as possible, using Game Pass and complimentary Buddy Passes. It’s unclear whether this indicates confidence in the game or the polar opposite. In the meantime, Rainbow Six Siege will be released on Xbox Game Pass for PC on the same day as Extraction (it’s currently available on Xbox Game Pass for consoles). So, for Game Pass subscribers later this month, there will be plenty of Rainbow Six to go around.

In the realm of subscriptions, Ubisoft has announced that its Ubisoft+ service will be available on Xbox systems. Although no exact launch date has been set, it is expected to happen “soon.” It’s worth noting that, unlike EA Play, Ubisoft+ appears to be a single subscription rather than part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. On PC, Ubisoft+ presently costs $15 per month.

For January 20, 2022, Rainbow Six Extraction will be released on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S (with Game Pass), PS4, PS5, and Stadia.
