Raid 2 is one of the most eagerly anticipated films on Ajay Devgn’s film list. The first part of the movie Raid drew inspiration from an actual income-tax raid carried out by IT department officers on Sardar Inder Singh in the 1980s. Notably, this raid set itself apart as the lengthiest in Indian history, spanning three days and two nights.
Raid 2 is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, who has also directed the first installment. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, backed by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek Pathak under their banners T-Series and Panorama Studios, respectively.
Raid 2 cast: Riteish Deshmukh is set to play the role of Antagonist
Recently, the film’s creators made a significant casting change, replacing Ileana D’Cruz with Vaani Kapoor as the female lead. On January 8, the actor took to his social media accounts to announce the Muhurat puja of Raid 2, expressing, ”New Case, New Beginning! #Raid2 officially kicked off today, and the energy on set was nothing short of electrifying! Shukriya @raviteja_2628, for gracing the mahurat shot.”
The puja ceremony also had the presence of South star Ravi Teja. Adding to the excitement, Ajay Devgn shared a new picture on his Instagram handle introducing the new antagonist for the upcoming chapter. None other than Riteish Deshmukh will be portraying the new villain in Raid 2.
It is not the first time that Riteish Deshmukh has played the role of a villain on screen. He previously played the role of the antagonist in a blockbuster movie named “Ek Villain,” starring Shraddha Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra.
Raid 2 Shooting starts
As per information provided by the creators, filming for the movie kicked off in Mumbai on Saturday i.e. 6th January 2024. The production will extensively capture scenes in Mumbai, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The second part is anticipated to deliver “more intensity with double the drama and suspense.” It aims to celebrate the “unsung heroes of the Income Tax Department” and narrate a true case documented in their records.
To attend the Mahurat event, Director Harish Shankar and actor Ravi Teja traveled from Hyderabad to Mumbai. Ravi Teja had the honor of giving the mahurat clap for Raid 2. Currently collaborating on the official Telugu adaptation of Raid titled Mr. Bachchan, both Harish and Ravi were in attendance. The event also saw the presence of producers Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek Pathak, along with co-producers Shiv Chanana, Sanjeev Joshi, and Aditya Chowksey.

Apart from Raid 2, Ajay Devgn has an exciting lineup of films. Among them is the long-awaited period sports drama, Maidaan, and Neeraj Pandey’s Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha. He is also actively involved in Rohit Shetty’s project, Singham Again, where he will share the screen with Kareena Kapoor as his wife Anvi Kamat Singham, Akshay Kumar as DCP Veer Sooryavanshi, Ranveer Singh as ACP Sangram Bhalerao (Simmba), Deepika Padukone as Shakti Shetty, along with the stellar presence of Jackie Shroff and Tiger Shroff.
When is Raid 2 releasing?
It is scheduled to be released on 21st February 2025.
