Raheem Sterling has emerged as a potential target for Barcelona to recruit in the summer. The Blaugrana will have a limited amount to spend in the midseason transfer window, and the winger is a possible candidate to head to Camp Nou.
The 26-year-old was a vital part of Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven up until this season. He also had a very good display at the Euros, but things haven’t been the same for him since. Sterling has mostly been restricted to the bench and has found starting opportunities in big games rather hard to come by.
Barcelona want Raheem Sterling to bolster their attacking lineup in winter, and have asked the Manchester City winger to make a financial effort to make the move. He currently earns a sum worth €18 million at the Etihad, which is a sum that Barcelona just do not have the financial ability to match right now.
Raheem Sterling could be given a modified deal which would include other variables in place of a part of his salary. This would allow the club to afford the player and comply with La Liga’s financial rules.
Dani Alves has returned to Barcelona as Xavi’s first signing in charge of the club. The Brazilian veteran is currently the lowest-paid member of the squad, since he has accepted the pay cut due to Barca’s difficult financial situation.
If Sterling wants to move to Spain, he will have to compromise on his salary in exchange for a regular role in the starting lineup.
