The 27-year-old English footballer Raheem Sterling has now officially left his successful English Premier League club Manchester City for a move to another top Premier League club Chelsea.

Raheem Sterling and Manchester City

Since Sterling joined City after leaving their PL rivals Liverpool in 2015 summer to become the most expensive English footballer of all time, he helped the Sky Blues to win the last four out of their six PL trophies, including winning it in both the last two seasons.

Apart from five EFL Cups, one FA Cup and one FA Community Shield, Sterling’s Man City also achieved their best UEFA Champions League record by finishing as the runners-up in 2020/21.

During his tenure for Manchester City, Sterling won the reputed 2018/19 PFA Young Player of the Year award and the 2018/19 FWA Footballer of the Year award.

In the 2021 Birthday Honours, Sterling was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to racial equality in sport.

Sterling made 339 appearances for Man City, where the winger scored 131 goals and assisted 94 times for the club. In the 2019/20 season, when FA Community Shield and EFL Cup winners City finished as the PL runners-up, the versatile attacking footballer finished as the leading goal-scorer for his team in that season with 31 goals (20 goals in the PL).

On Wednesday (13th July), Raheem Sterling officially announced his move from Man City to Chelsea. In his open letter to the club and fans, Sterling opened up his feeling, “I arrived in Manchester a 20-year-old. Today, I leave as a man.”
