The Spaniard 61-year old coach has a unique connection with his former Real Betis player Fabian Ruiz who is currently at Napoli. Fabian worked under Setien in Real Betis and was one of the key man for his boss.
He has now become an important player for Napoli and as Setien commands over Barcelona, he dreams to bring his former midfielder back at the Camp Nou. Even though Barca has a wide option in the midfield but it is likely that both Rakitic and Vidal will be shown the doors this summer.
So, naturally Barca would likely to have a good as well as young midfielder on their side. If Fabian arrives at Barcelona it would bring down the average age of Barca’s midfield from 32 (Rakitic, Busquets and Vidal) to 24 (Frenkie, Fabian and Arthur).
Obviously, in this financial crisis bringing Fabian to Barcelona would be a costly option for Barca. The reports also suggests that Carles Alena, Riqui Puig and Alex Collado remain as options for the club and they will get a chance to impress, but Fabian remains a ‘dream’ transfer target.
It is said that Real Madrid has also been linked with the midfielder, and his agent did admit that the Los Blancos have asked about the 24-year-old. So, this time Barca have some big summer targets but ultimately time will tell how many of them can land to the Camp Nou finally.
