Quinton De Kock announces his retirement from Test cricket

IPL 2022’s Mega Auction will be held on 12 and 13 February 2022 as planned by the BCCI. BCCI will be releasing the list of players shortly. Mumbai Indian player Quinton De Kock announced his retirement just before the IPL 2022 mega auction. South Africa’s wicketkeeper-batter Quinton De Kock announced his retirement with an immediate effect.

He announced his retirement after India defeated South Africa by 113 runs in the opening Test of the three-match series on Thursday. The figure is now 1-0. CSA released a statement stating about De Kock’s retirement.

In his statement, he said I have taken a lot of time to think about what my future looks like and what needs to take priority in my life now that Sasha and I are about to welcome our first child into this world and look to grow our family beyond that. My family is everything to me and I want to have the time and space to be able to be with them during this new and exciting chapter of our lives,”

In a total of 54 matches, he had scored 3,300 runs at 38.32 with six centuries in his pocket. Only South African player Dean Elgar has 1,125 runs more but with 31 more innings. He is only 29 and one of the best careers are over or just restricted to white-ball matches for the time being.

De Kock was supposed to take a leave of the Test team against team India but his decision of retirement shocked the entire cricket fanatics of South Africa.

De Kock can easily sustain his lifestyle on his IPL earnings. It is speculated that De Kock is trying to focus on his personal life or maybe cricket has now become a very demanding game professionally in every format.
