Smartphones rule the world with a company like Apple, Samsung, and Huawei having their smartphone brand and dipping their fingers in the wast pool of mobile SoCs. Qualcomm Snapdragon has been the leading mobile processor of the smartphone for years. But the champion was dethroned by Apple’s A13 Bionic. Since then, no other processor has even matched Apple’s Silicon regarding raw power and performance.

Qualcomm has finally decided to come out of its comfort zone and enter the vast array of smartphones. The chipset maker might soon be launching its gaming smartphone based on its much powerful snapdragon 875. This will be the very first time the chipset maker has ever manufactured a smart device. We can expect the new gaming smartphone to be available by the first quarter of 2021.

According to sources, it is stated that “Qualcomm reportedly will team up with Asustek Computer to develop and launch its own-brand gaming smartphones at the end of 2020 at the earliest, according to industry sources.”

Since Qualcomm wants to directly jump into manufacturing gaming smartphones, it is a good strategy to partner with Asus as the company is a leader in producing gaming hardware.

Asus has years of experience in designing cooling solutions for not just computer hardware, but also smartphones.

The company’s latest product is the new ROG Phone 3, a flagship that offers beastly specifications and is powered by the new Snapdragon 865 Plus.

Reportedly the first gaming smartphone from Qualcomm will sport an optimized Snapdragon 875. But rumors suggest that Qualcomm is preparing not one, but two Snapdragon 875 versions. Therefore as to which silicon would be chosen by Qualcomm for its first crop of gaming-centric smartphones remains to be seen.

Qualcomm did not specify whether it will be using a customized Android skin or stick with stock Android UI for its gaming smartphone. Stay tuned for further updates.
