What Rabb Da Radio 3’s Numbers Really Mean?
Punjabi film box office is in tatters domestically, with the last film to have a Rs. 1 crore nett plus opening day being almost a year ago. In that context, Rabb Da Radio 3’s opening is genuinely encouraging — not just a number, but a signal.
There was a holiday for Good Friday on the release day, which definitely helped in a big way overseas. The Rs. 3 crore international collection shows the passionate Punjabi diaspora turning out in force, particularly in Canada, the UK, and Australia.
The Franchise Legacy
The first Rabb Da Radio film, released in 2017, was also the debut for Tarsem Jassar and did very well, emerging as a HIT. It opened to Rs. 80 lakh nett on its opening day, which was an excellent result for a debutant back in the day. The second film was released in 2019 and turned out to be an AVERAGE affair.
Now with the third instalment, the franchise has a real chance at redemption — and early signs are promising.
Can It Become a HIT?
The film has an open run, with a couple of holidays to help, and if it can grow on Saturday and get the usual Sunday jump, it would put the film in a very good position.
The industry had its first HIT of the year with Ishqan De Lekhe in March, and it would be encouraging to see that momentum continue with Rabb Da Radio 3.
The Punjabi cinema industry has a rich legacy of heartwarming family narratives, and Rabb Da Radio has always represented that emotional storytelling at its finest. With the right word-of-mouth, this one could comfortably cross the HIT benchmark.
