In a groundbreaking development within the Indian retail sector, PUMA India has introduced an innovative approach to promote sustainability during the festive season. By implementing an Internet of Things (IoT) solution in their stores, PUMA India aims to enhance the quality of indoor air for their customers. This initiative ensures that shoppers can enjoy a healthier and safer shopping experience, with improved air circulation and efficiency.
PUMA offers a sustainable shopping experience this festive season; and introduces innovative air quality monitoring solutions across stores
During the initial implementation stage, five PUMA stores went through a pilot phase and successfully obtained Air Quality (AQ) certifications from NABL, a recognized Indian testing laboratory that specializes in testing and calibration. This certification serves as an endorsement of the program’s effectiveness. The selection process for these stores was primarily based on AQ data, ensuring that the positive impact of the initiative is felt across different regions. Furthermore, PUMA plans to extend IAQ certification to an additional 80 stores in the near future, emphasizing their dedication to delivering an exceptional in-store experience for customers.
The cutting-edge Internet of Things (IoT) solution integrates the store’s electro-mechanical devices with a central database, allowing for the real-time monitoring of energy usage and indoor air quality (IAQ). This solution functions by constantly gathering and analyzing data, regulating equipment operations, and offering valuable insights that empower store managers to optimize energy consumption and enhance air quality in their retail environment. This revolutionary technology not only enhances store operations but also reflects the brand’s dedication to climate action.
Vishal Gupta, the Retail Executive Director at PUMA India, emphasized that their investment in technology demonstrates their dedication to operating intelligent and sustainable PUMA retail stores in the country. He further highlighted how PUMA consistently seeks to provide unique experiences for customers and is collaborating with top-notch solutions to offer an enhanced shopping experience and better indoor air quality during the festive season.
PUMA holds the distinction of being the pioneer brand in India to adopt this cutting-edge technology in its stores, a notable achievement in the nation’s retail sector. In the face of environmental concerns within the retail industry, PUMA has introduced an initiative that paves the way for a more sustainable, eco-friendly, and ethical shopping experience for its customers.
The company partnered with EcoEnergy Insights to deploy an Internet of Things (IoT) solution in their main stores in India. EcoEnergy Insights, which is a division of Carrier Global Corporation, specializes in offering AI and IoT-based solutions and services. Presently, EcoEnergy Insights serves more than 55,000 locations worldwide and helps clients in India manage their energy usage across over 600 cities.

This partnership aims to enhance the in-store experience for customers while also contributing to the reduction of the stores’ carbon footprint. Dhillon stated that this initiative is groundbreaking in the sportswear retail industry in India, and they are fully dedicated to providing PUMA with the best IoT technology available.
