PS5 controller now available for Steam users

With the launch of the next-gen consoles, many of gamers are having a time of their life. The consoles come with major high-end updates and offer exclusive titles in their own right. However, PlayStation 5 has brought something new and amazing with its launch. Its DualSense controller is among the most highly anticipated things which was released by Sony this year.

And now, the controller is finally compatible with games that are using Steam Input API. It will support the LED, trackpad, rumble and even gyro features. For now it is available for players to configure in games such as Death Stranding, No Man’s Sky, Horizon: Zero Dawn and much more. However, the support for is available only to players that have opted to the public beta Steam desktop client with platform-wide support targeted to ship after further testing.

Steam Input API offer gamers a significantly enhanced experience which includes:

  • Seamless player experience with correct glyphs for all devices, including any remapping.
  • Support for advanced features such as motion controls, trackpads, additional buttons.
  • Updates just work. Without any additional work required of the developer, when new features and/or devices are added to the API, they will “just work” with these titles.

for users who have a game on steam and are not using the Steam Input API will have to make sure that the Steam Gamepad Emulation is enabled for PlayStation controllers. It is a Steam service that allows players to immediately configure a PS5 controller to function in that game. It can also map the controller’s basic buttons to actions in the game. For those looking to play their games on desktop using the DualSense controller can make use of the Steam Input API for a full integration. It offer the best default experience for players.
