Prices for Reliance Jio and Airtel 5G may be reasonable for now, but they are anticipated to rise with a larger rollout

The introduction of 5G services in India was announced on October 1 during the India Mobile Congress by the country’s two largest telecoms, Reliance Jio and Airtel (IMC). While Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio is anticipated to debut its 5G services around Diwali, Airtel has already launched its 5G services in eight cities.

One of the first questions that may arise in your mind is if you utilize a 5G smartphone and have an Airtel or Jio SIM then what the cost of 5G will be or how much you will have to pay for 5G? The 5G pricing for the nation has not yet been disclosed by Airtel or Jio. However, it’s anticipated that the telecoms would initially offer 5G at a reasonable cost.

About the Airtel 5G Prices

The 5G pricing are anticipated to be announced by Airtel in the upcoming days, according to the sources. Although less than 10% of customers currently own a 5G smartphone, it is still anticipated that pricing will remain low because excessive costs may make uptake challenges.

An executive with knowledge of the situation told that only 8–9% of smartphones are currently 5G ready. Therefore, the pricing you choose for 5G will not affect the industry’s overall trajectory. If the number of devices stays low, there won’t be any benefit from higher tariffs. If tariffs are raised by 13% but there is very little take-up, then revenues are still zero.

The executive also referred to the need to raise tariffs to enhance average revenue per user (ARPU). In November 2021, the pricing for Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea increased by up to 25%.

Moreover, the executive added that if a rate increase is announced, it will likely be done simultaneously by all three carriers. That must rise, but the market is cutthroat. Thus, they are unable to do the task alone. If they do that and no one else does it, they will lose. As a result, they must wait and watch to determine when the time is ideal.

Therefore, even though we anticipate modest initial pricing, the telcos may raise the costs once the services are made available throughout the nation.

Price of Reliance Jio 5G

Jio has not yet disclosed its 5G pricing, similar to Airtel. A company executive did, however, affirm that the plans would be reasonably priced. Based on the sources, a Jio executive told that their prices will always be affordable. Jio will give subscribers more value with this lifelong commitment.

The executive further stated that consumers would not need to buy a new SIM card to enjoy its 5G services. Consumers won’t need to swap their SIM cards or purchase a new service; simply giving them the choice, they will be upgraded to 5G immediately.
