Premier League is looking forward to increase the pressure on the lawmakers for introducing the rule of temporary concussion substitutes, and reports state that 18 out of 20 clubs in favor of the same. Reports also state that a letter will be sent to the IFAB ahead of a meeting in between all the teams except West Ham along with Aston Villa who didn’t vote for this rule and went for a test.
There was much protest earlier regarding the approval of concussion substitute rule, the IFAB eventually refused permission for a trial to take place in the top flight in a move of their columnist Chris Sutton known as “unbelievable”. The PFA as well as FA earlier endorsed an application that even included MLS and Ligue 1, however they IFAB stunningly rejected the proposal stating that they prefer permanent concussion substitutes.
Premier League ready to turn up the pressure
The Premier League is all set to ramp up the pressure for introducing temporary concussion substitutes. Experts are on a view that temporary concussion substitutes are necessary and appropriate too as there are chances for players to return to the field. It signifies that the players who have sustained head injury are more likely to commit to being properly evualted. Besides, it relieves pressure on the medical staffs too.
The Premier League clubs are overwhelming in the favor of this rule, but Aston Villa and West Ham who didn’t vote in the favor are currently undecided rather than against the temporary substitutes. The letter which will be sent will indicate that the highest category desires to begin a test in the upcoming season, and it will be co-signed by 18 club doctors andwill express their opinion that temporary substitutes enhance player well-being in-game managing.
