Premier League Team Of The Year 2022/23, according to Harry Redknapp

BetVictor Brand Ambassador Harry Redknapp has selected his Premier League Team of the Year for the 2022/2023 Premier League season. With record-breaker Erling Haaland named star man of the year alongside Martin Odegaard, Mohamed Salah & Harry Kane.

Premier League Team Of The Year 2022/23, according to Harry Redknapp

  • Emi Martinez (Aston Villa)
  • Kieran Trippier (Newcastle United)
  • Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace)
  • Ben Mee (Brentford)
  • Pervis Estupinan (Brighton)
  • Casemiro (Manchester United)
  • Martin Odegaard (Arsenal)
  • Declan Rice (West Ham)
  • Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
  • Harry Kane (Tottenham)
  • Erling Haaland (Manchester City)

Harry Redknapp’s TOTY selection details

“First up, Emi Martinez. Martinez has had a very good season for club and country and has found himself in my team of the week many times. Villa have had a lot of standout players, but Martinez was the key for me. His distribution, his shot-stopping and his presence are all top-class and he plays with a real swagger to his game. There’s not many better in the league or anywhere around Europe.

Cyclone Montha Makes Landfall in Andhra Pradesh: Live Updates and Safety Measures

Newcastle have had such a brilliant season, I’m picking their skipper at right-back, Kieran Trippier. Kieran’s been the best right-back in the league this season, what a signing he’s been for the club. He’s so experienced and has seen it all in his career. Not many have created more chances than him, he’s got so much quality crossing the ball from open play and set pieces.

My first centre half will be Marc Guehi. It’s been another great season at Palace for Marc, particularly since Roy Hodgson came back to the club. This lad has everything you’d want in a young defender, and I still think there’s plenty of improvement to come. You forget his age, he’s still only 22, there’s plenty of time for him to become a mainstay in the England squad.

It may not have been a flashy signing, but Ben Mee was one of the signings of the season. He’s so experienced and has been top-class for Brentford in what’s been such a great year for Thomas Frank’s side. Ben is a proper defender and has defensive instincts that you can’t teach. His positioning and sense of danger in the box is superb.

Picking one Brighton player was difficult! Caicedo, Mac Allister, Mitoma, some top performers. I’m going with Pervis Estupinan though. He’s been as good as any left-back in the league this season, really impressive considering it’s his first year at the club. To sell Cucurella and replace him with this fella whilst making a profit, fantastic business by the club.

First up in midfield, Casemiro. What a signing he’s been for United, he’s transformed that team. This lad has won it all in the game and his experience and winning mentality has really rubbed off on this side. Every credit to him, he’s arrived in English football and instantly got stuck in and tried to improve the club, there’s been plenty of high-profile players down the years that have struggled. With United back in the Champions League next season, they’ll be relying on him again.

There’s been plenty of top Arsenal performers, but Martin Odegaard has been the key in my eyes. He’s always been such a talented, classy footballer but this year, I feel like he really came of age. He really led his side and was constantly creating chances and scored some big goals as they challenged City at the top of the league. I love watching him play.

He’s been in my side most weeks, I’m a massive fan of Declan Rice. This lad has just got everything you need in a modern midfielder. He seems to get better each week and he finished the season in such brilliant form. What a brilliant athlete he is, he must be a nightmare to play against. It’s going to be a huge summer for Declan and West Ham with some of the biggest clubs in the country and Europe chasing him.

I think Mo Salah’s season has gone under the radar. Liverpool have obviously not a great year but when you look at Salah’s performances and output, he’s been fantastic. 30 goals in all competitions, 19 of them in the league, that’s a brilliant season for any player. We probably take him for granted, what a player this lad has been for so many years now.

Next up, Harry Kane, an easy pick! It’s been such a poor season for Spurs, but Harry has been outstanding yet again for them. Where would Spurs be without his goals? He’s now overtaken the great Jimmy Greaves’ scoring record at the club, what an achievement that was. 30 goals in the league in this side just shows what a natural scorer this fella is. Put it this way, Harry would score goals for any team in any league. The question is, will Harry want to stay at Spurs for another year? He’s got some big decisions to make.

My star man can only be one man though, Erling Haaland. He’s destroyed all the records and at times he looks unplayable, what a debut season that was. The scary thing is, he’s only going to get better. I still remember at the start of the season when people had doubts about him, what a load of rubbish that was! He gets some brilliant service at City but the runs he makes, the positioning and his desire to get on the score sheet are all world class. There’s been plenty of top performers in the league this season, but this lad has been the difference.”
