How much did Premier League managers cost their clubs per win before being sacked?

The 22/23 Premier League season has experienced the highest number of in-season manager departures, with Graham Potter being the latest to leave Chelsea after less than seven months. As a result, the underwhelming performances of many managers have prompted an investigation into the ex-Premier League managers who provided the worst value for money.

Experts have analyzed the career statistics of these Premier League managers to determine the cost each one incurred for their club to win a game before their departure, either through resignation or sacking.

Key findings:

  • Former Chelsea manager, Graham Potter, was the worst value for money, costing his clubs £823 thousand per win
  • Followed by Rafael Benítez, costing approximately £547 thousand per won game
  • Antonio Conte claims fourth, costing Spurs an estimated £509 thousand per win
  • Returning as Chelsea’s newest interim manager, Frank Lampard previously cost the club £177 thousand per win in his first stint
