The Run, Explained

Week 1 (Rs 6 crore): A modest start for a film that would go on to become a hit.

Week 2 (Rs 27 crore): The big jump. Word of mouth took over, and collections grew rather than dropped, which is uncommon for a romantic film.

Third weekend (Days 15-17): The peak, with Rs 7.25 crore on Day 16 and Rs 8.75 crore on Day 17.

Fourth weekend (Days 22-24): Another strong weekend, with a climb from Rs 3 crore on Friday to Rs 5 crore on Day 24.

Day 25 (Monday, Rs 3.25 crore): The expected weekday slowdown. The numbers remain encouraging for a film still pulling audiences in its fourth week.

What Comes Next?

Milestone	Status
Rs 83.75 crore	Total after Day 24
Rs 87 crore	Current total
Rs 90 crore	Within reach
Rs 100 crore	Realistic shot if the steady pace holds

The film has been described as a blockbuster in Kannada cinema. Entering the Rs 100 crore club would put it among the most successful Kannada releases of the year.

What Is the Film About?

Premada Oorali is set in a rural village. Naganna, a widowed farmer, wants his son Santhu to marry an educated woman and complete their family. Santhu is set to marry Rukmini, an educated outsider who challenges traditional village norms.

The situation gets complicated because Vasantha, Santhu’s childhood friend, has unspoken feelings for him. Caught in a love triangle and weighed down by his father’s expectations, Santhu faces an emotional conflict that tests his relationships and forces a difficult choice.
